Book and Paper - A room without books is like a body without a soul

About Us

Book and Paper first opened in May 2009.  Owners, Wenche Osland and Sue Martin wanted to offer a community bookshop, where people can enjoy all that books have to offer.

Cicero's words "A room without books is like a body without a soul" seem to capture the importance of books in our lives. They can take you to places you have never dreamed of, they can soothe the soul, teach and offer sanctuary, or simply give you a good laugh. As lovers of books we like to encourage others to enjoy books as much as we do and we provide a wide variety of titles allowing our customers to have the opportunity to find that 'perfect' book.
We strive to achieve this by hand-picking our books, and by giving 'one on one' assistance to those who need that 'extra bit of help' in making their choices.

We think it is important to instill the love of reading in our children and we pride ourselves on having an extensive children's, teen and young adult section. With our experience as parents and Sue's 25 years in education we offer knowledge and an understanding of the needs of both parents and children in making their reading choices. We are thrilled that Claire Saxby, a well known children's author and local resident works with us one day a week and can also assist you in your choices of books.

We have strong connections with kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in the area, and enjoy working with local teachers to encourage reading.

We look forward to seeing you in the shop.
